The Board approved amendments to the Standards for registration and review of registration of schools in SA in October 2019. 

All schools must be able to demonstrate that they meet the new criterion.

The specific changes were made to Standard 1, strengthening the criterion related to ‘School governance’. The amendments are outlined below:

1.1 The school is established as a body corporate or body politic and its principle purpose is the provision of school education.

1.2 The school is established by individuals who are fit and proper persons.

1.3 The school is financially viable.
